The genre I decided to use is a brochure. I chose a brochure because I think it offers a lot more information than a poster or flyer. When it comes to brochures, the front cover is the most important part because it will either attract readers or push them away because they are not interested in learning more about what is inside.

What makes it good? It is very colorful and has a unique way of displaying photographs that would grab a reader's attention. The brochure uses repetition by using blue as the background and white font. They also use repetition with the purple flowers that decorate the pages. The first section of it uses contrast by making your wedding day stick out at the reader by making the font a different size than the rest of the text. The alignment they use for the pictures on the front cover is very unique. What makes it bad? I don't like the contrast they used for the front cover where they use three different fonts. The alignment of the fonts also does not match up at all, Maui, Hawaii, and Weddings are all over the place instead of looking clear. The brochure does not show repetition when it comes to the company name: Pacific Enhancement with the palm tree logo. Instead, they change it on the back cover to the phrase were different with the palm tree logo and the company name underneath which could be confusing to some readers.
What makes it good? The used contrast with the pages by making the one page white which makes things interesting. Another thing that uses contrast that is creative and unique is the fact that the made the A in the company name bigger and turned it into a roof for a house to represent their business. I like the repetition of the magnifying glasses with facts in the lenses, it relates to the fact that it is an inspection company. As for alignment, the middle page contains a bulleted list that is aligned neatly. I like the proximity of the magnifying glass and the picture on the front cover, they go together nicely and catch a reader's attention. What makes it bad? The alignment of the contact information does not look good centered. I think it could be aligned differently to look more neat and stand out more. I also think they could have used more contrast with font to make the brochure more interesting and easier to read.

In order to represent alignment, I lined up both the pictures on the front page, I also show alignment through the bulleted list and the two questions shown on the inside panel. In order to represent proximity, I grouped all information related to each other through the use of a bulleted list in order to keep everything organized and together.
